I've just started using camaras and I'm getting some strange things happening. Maybe someone has discovered a fool proof way of doing what I want?I have a timed switched door. I'm using the lever switch in the newcity.wad. What I want is to throw the switch, cut to the door opening for 2 seconds and then cut back to Lara where she will have to make her mad dash. This needs to be repeated as she may need to do it more than once. Any ideas? IP: Logged |

I would suggest using a flyby camera. You have the most control with this cam....you can use a heavy trigger (as in the tutorial level) to trigger the door, then have the camera return to Lara after the door opens.IP: Logged |

OK,I've tried this. What happens is that the view moves off to the door from Lara, at the speed dictated by the 'speed' setting, which I don't want. As soon as it reaches the door, it comes straight back to Lara. I've tried putting something in the timer both for the trigger and the camera OCB but it has no effect. I want the veiw to switch to the door as soon as the switch is thrown, for 2 seconds. Then go back to Lara. But it has to happen every time the switch is pulled. IP: Logged |

In the camera properties window turn on the 0 and 6 buttons, that will stop the camera from panning. Use a heavy trigger for the door under the camera and set the timer in the trigger window to 10. Also turn on the 8 and 14 buttons in the camera properties window and enter a number in the timer box. I have found that I have to use a much larger timer number than stated in the manual. A value of 500 gives me about a 3 second delay.

That explains why the timer wasn't working. The rest I managed to work out last night. I found a way round the timer problem any way which may be useful for others. I used three cameras but the middle one triggered the door. In that way I could see and hear the door open even when the camera was still moving. I'm very pleased with the result and ready for new problems. Thanks for the advice. IP: Logged |
